Whitchurch Heritage Centre

Whitchurch Heritage Centre offers a wealth of information on the history of the town as well as providing a hub for local people and visitors to the area, with a wide range of brochures and leaflets detailing local attractions and events.

The Centre houses a range of long-term exhibits and children's activities, plus regular short-term exhibitions, and the popular coffee mornings on the first Wednesday of each month.

The attractive courtyard adjoining the Centre is home to the Whitchurch Craft Units.

The Heritage Centre is open six days a week (see below for times), and entry is free.

Long-term exhibits include a range of clocks from Whitchurch firm J.B. Joyce, who have been making tower clocks in the town since 1690, longer than any other manufacturer in the world.

The Rednal Hoard is a set of bronze-age axe heads, discovered by archaeology enthusiast Henry Pugh who donated them to Shropshire's Museum Service.

Access is good, with a ramp for wheelchairs and buggies leading from the courtyard.

A range of gifts including personalised biscuits and confectionery, books, maps, prints, Whitchurch souvenirs and postcards is available to buy at the Heritage Centre.

In addition to information for tourists and other visitors to the town, Whitchurch Heritage Centre provides a great deal of information for local people, in the form of free leaflets.

The knowledgable and friendly staff are always keen to help.

Whitchurch Heritage Centre is located just a short walk from the High Street and close to the free car park at St John's Street.
